The idea for the Key Art for Belfast Girls originated from a motion graphic I had previously created, where I aimed to make the title appear as if it was underwater. During discussions about the Key Art with Director Nicola Murphy Dubey, she expressed the desire to convey the sense that the play existed in a liminal universe. The simple underwater graphic initially aligned with the requirements, but it needed an added element to enhance interest. Almost by chance, the shapes in the art started to resemble the countries where the play is set. I further developed this concept, resulting in the artwork you see on this page.
